Once I saw the face of madness, looking for a home, Gazing out of the half light and into the city's glow, Truth was written 'cross his face, he said our time was done, The Fanfares have all started, hear the beating of the drum. I've seen a thousand mornings, now the hollow sky grows old I've gazed into oblivion, beyond the last lies told, Soon those houses stand like tombstones, on the sterile ground, Shadow people left behind stumble through the towns... ...Feel the cold embrace, feel the minutes race, I looked into the face, the face of madness... I've seen a sky erupt in fire and ashclouds block the sun, I've seen the broken millions and the songs they sing to no-one, Fading, fading, faster now, I hear their last refrain, The face of madness slowly shudders back into the grey.... ...Feel the cold embrace, feel the minutes race, I looked into the face, the face of madness... Once I saw the face of madness looking for a home...

Antidote 03:48
No-one in the club knows I'm here, I'd much sooner disappear, Sooner dance with Death than here, dance beyond that grey veneer, Ah let's bring it all down, dance on the bones tonight, ah tonight, Then we'll beat a new drum and dance into oblivion, oblivion... ...We need an antidote, we're losing time, we're losing hope, We'll find some hope somehow tomorrow, tomorrow never comes... No-one in the club will ever know, I'd much sooner be alone, Screaming down this silent ruin, in some sterile wasteland town, Ah let's bring it all down, dance on the ruins tonight, ah tonight, Then we'll beat a new drum and dance into oblivion, oblivion... ...We need an antidote, we're losing time, we're losing hope, We'll find some hope somehow tomorrow, tomorrow never comes... No-one in the club knows I'm here, no-one hears my silent fear, Songs of sounds all sapped of truth, echoes from a voiceless youth, Ah let's bring it all down, dance on the bones tonight, ah tonight, Then we'll beat a new drum and dance into oblivion, oblivion... ...We need an antidote, we're losing time, we're losing hope, We'll find some hope somehow tomorrow, tomorrow never comes...

Thought I saw you catch the haunt in my eyes, Thought you saw through my face, my disguse, Now I'm weary, and constantly wired, Am I living on your borrowed time? ...Seems like years since I could gaze far beyond the iron grey, Seems like years since I could gaze far beyond the iron grey... There's a shadow cast by the cage, Of the hours going to waste, Please be near me, gentle and kind Am I living on your borrowed time? ...Seems like years since I could gaze far beyond the iron grey, Seems like years since I could gaze far beyond the iron grey... Stepping stones fade out of view, As their shadows darken the pool, And I'm singing a song to the phantoms inside, Am I living on your borrowed time? ...Seems like years since I could gaze far beyond the iron grey, Seems like years since I could gaze far beyond the iron grey...

Strangers now, stranger when you lived in my house back then, Strangers now, stranger when you had your hand in everything Don't spring from the woodwork, 'cause I need to forget, Don't you darken my doorstep... ...Bridges that we built are now ashes, Everything we knew now burns and crashes, Don't come back to haunt me, 'cause I need to forget, Don't you darken my doorstep... Strangers now, stranger when I felt like your battery hen Strangers now, stranger when you cut me with your poison pen Now I've burned your letters, 'cause I need to forget Don't you darken my doorstep... ...Bridges that we built are now ashes, Everything we knew now burns and crashes, Don't come back to haunt me, 'cause I need to forget, Don't you darken my doorstep... Strangers now, stranger when silence was my only friend Strangers now, stranger when an early grave seemed welcoming, I moved across the river, 'cause I need to forget, Don't you darken my doorstep ...Bridges that we built are now ashes, Everything we knew now burns and crashes, Don't come back to haunt me, 'cause I need to forget, Don't spring from the woodwork, 'cause I need to forget, I moved across the river, 'cause I need to forget, Don't you darken my doorstep...

Come the fall of Man, baby hold my hand, We'll be safe together underground, Yes, the bunkers made, years of food I've saved, Come the dark days we'll be safe and sound... ...And we'll found a city for our kin, You'll be Queen and I'll be King. Come the fall of Man... When the fallout comes, you dont need to run The door is wide and I'll be waiting Come the mushroom clouds, we wont need them shrouds We'll avoid incineratinon... ...And we'll found a city for our kin, You'll be Queen and I'll be King. Come the fall of Man... I've got weaponry for every possibility, No surrender, I'll defend ya, Lock the iron doors, snipe the zombie horde, They won't defeat us, they won't eat us... ...And we'll found a city for our kin, You'll be Queen and I'll be King. Come the fall of Man... Babe you'd look so cute in a radiation suit, When it's time for us to step outside, We can stroll around the wreckage of the ruined towns, And take the treasures that we find... ...And we'll found a city for our kin, You'll be Queen and I'll be King. Come the fall of Man...

Doors that don't unlock, the bells that never cease, Screams and cries from down the hall, And I can't get to sleep tonight. Friends I've found in here, yet I can't explain. You're out there on the promenade, I'm stranded in the rain again tonight... ...Better than yesterday, I'm going home, I'm counting days, Better than yesterday, I'm going home, I'm not insane... Jill won't go outside, she's terrified of life, Johnny's hearing voices now, He won't get to sleep tonight. The quiet ones just sway, through chains of dark and light The older and the younger ones, Will they get to sleep tonight? ...Better than yesterday, I'm going home, I'm counting days, Better than yesterday, I'm going home, I'm not insane...

A quick glance up as she forces a smile, If she gets through today she'll be alright for a while, Tonight she won't sleep in her usual style, Who made those blue eyes cold? What made those blue eyes old? She's got big dreams but she's not asleep, Low self-esteem and no self-belief, She's got secrets but they're hers to keep, Who made those blue eyes cold? Who said those eyes couldn't hold the world? ...She'll never say a word about pain Take it like a triumph though there is no gain... A quick glance up as she forces a smile, If she gets through today she'll be alright for a while, Tonight she won't sleep in her usual style, Who made those blue eyes cold? What made those blue eyes old? She brings the drinks with an extra weight, Pretends that she's just doing great, Look at her, it's in her gait, Who made those blue eyes cold? Who said those eyes couldn't hold the world? ...She'll never say a word about pain Take it like a triumph though there is no gain... The neon bar sign's weary glow draws her to her second home All she sees and all she knows is who made those blue eyes cold...

Eva's Song 04:12
Frozen time, a frozen stare, across her face a cold despair, She knows now (she knows now). Made up like a beauty queen, a fragment from some broken dream That's gone now (that's gone now). Who remembers her at all? Can anyone recall Eva's song before the fall, before the fall? The songs that throng her memory are faded in obscurity, Forgotten (forgotten). She used to sing the music halls, now she warbles at the walls, Forgotten (forgotten) Who remembers her at all? Can anyone recall Eva's song before the fall, before the fall? She pours a drink to keep her warm, and weather through the winter storm, Alone now (alone now) Gazing through the fractured glass, another drink holds back the past, Alone now (alone now) Who remembers her at all? Can anyone recall Eva's song before the fall, before the fall?... The dusty air hangs thick and cold, a dresser full, a life untold, She knows now (she knows now). Winter comes and takes control, roses wither in the snow, So cold now (so cold now). Who remembers her at all? Can anyone recall Eva's song before the fall, before the fall?

Mr Nefarious sees the dark in all of us, Herding and controlling us, and he's got in in for us. Mr Nefarious, Mr Not-So--Glorious, Kicks the ground he'd turn to dust, and he's got it in for us. ...Laughing like a jester with a chance die in his hand, Watching as the world implodes. He smiles and offers riches, But to shake his hand you're damned, Leaving but a hollow soul... Mr Nefarious, a dark hand stretching over us, Laughs a hollow laugh at us, and he's got it in for us. Mr Nefarious blows his gloating smoke at us, Choking and malodourous, and he's got it in for us. ...Laughing like a jester with a chance die in his hand, Watching as the world implodes. He smiles and offers riches, But to shake his hand you're damned, Leaving but a hollow soul... Mr Nefarious, notoriously furious, Breeding fear and lonliness, and he's got it in for us. Mr Nefarious, Mr Not-So-Glorious, Yes he'll rip the heart from us, and he's got it in for us. ...Laughing like a jester with a chance die in his hand, Watching as the world implodes. He smiles and offers riches, But to shake his hand you're damned, Leaving but a hollow soul... Nefarious (nefarious) Nefarious (nefarious) A dark hand, a dark hand...

TV on the world lies still outside, stagnant as if in formaldehyde, Sometimes I get so cynical I smile, lifeless confused here we lie... ...Once again we defend how to feel, Once again we pretend this is real... Hear the radio it plays, hours on end every day Sometimes cold words cut like winged blades The screaming in the silence never fades... ...Once again we defend how to feel, Once again we pretend this is real... So I'll rest now, not much gone away Watch the jerking birds peck their prey, The birds know not of what I realise, Thoughts or feelings escape their black eyes... Black, let it all be black, let it all be black, like the eyes of birds. Let it all be black, let it all be black, like the eyes of birds, Let it all be black.

about

The Neon Madmen Chester, UK

Formed in 2011 for no adequately explained reason, The Neon Madmen have been playing their lyric-driven alternative indie ever since.

All three members are involved in songwriting; ignoring genre and a shared surreal take on life makes for a highly individual sound.

The Neon Madmen's debut album CLIMB was released in January 2015, and they're super happy about it.
